Daenerys Stormborn, Mother of Dragons, Khaleesi, the Unburnt, Dany, Mhysa, The Mad King’s Daughter, The Silver Queen, Breaker of Shackles… Yes! These titles all belong to one BAMF character. We’ll stick with Daenerys and Dany for short, though she should never be shorted of any of her well-earned titles.
So who is she?
One of the most well known Game of Thrones characters; The daughter of someone known as The Mad King, she was born during a storm that killed the rest of her Targaryen family. Daenerys spent much of her life in exile and fear of her creepy older brother. When her family was alive, they were known as either insane, or brilliant. She is regarded as sometimes both. I don’t want to spoil too much, but basically, she marries this man of great power. They grow to love each other deeply, and then he dies, when things were starting to get so good. 
Honestly so many tears shed during this scene.
She goes around and visits different areas, freeing the slaves and gaining support and power along the way. Her main goal is to seek revenge for her family and sit on the Iron Throne. What would Barry say about all this? Well, he would probably encourage everyone to psychoanalyze the heck out of her. Barry uses Freud to argue heroine’s and heroe’s motivations. “the idea of repression, which is the ‘forgetting’ or ignoring of unresolved conflicts, unadmitted desires, or traumatic past events, so that they are forced out of conscious awareness and into the realm of the unconscious”. This quote is basically the opposite of Dany’s life, but it is important to recognize. She spends every waking hour remembering unresolved conflicts, creating awareness of the change she wants to create, and being tormented by certain memories of her past. In some ways, she does this so not to forget what she is fighting for.
Freedom for everyone, but why is she still trapped?
Above is a scene of recognition for Daenerys. She has freed quite a large number of people from slavery at this point. They are all reaching out to her, calling her “Mhysa”, meaning mother. She has been fighting for her rights, as well as the rights of all people. She never forgets her maltreatment during childhood, and wants to be humane to all. In this scene, she is conscious of her desires, past events, and unresolved conflicts, and she is ready to take them on.
She encourages everyone to have a voice. Independence to all, and to all a good night. Don’t let the dragons bite. (OK too far)
